Cascina Val Del Prete - Priocca d'Alba (CN)
The construction of wineries increasingly involves the use of green roof systems.
GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS ENHANCE BUILDING COMFORT BY INCREASING THERMAL MASS, PROVIDING A COOL INDOOR CLIMATE IN SUMMER, AND REDUCING HEAT LOSS IN WINTER. THEY ALSO ENHANCE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Cascina Val Del Prete is located in Roero, a northeastern area of the province of Cuneo. The intervention insists on a former precast concrete barn. The building is a fundamental resource for the farm as it is a large reserve of space for livestock and various agricultural products.
The project aimed to integrate the building into its natural surroundings by installing a Harpo green sloped roof system on the existing two-pitch roof with sheds.
The green roof surface defines a connection with the country ground level, ideally continuing it above the roof.
The green roof helped maintain a consistent indoor temperature throughout the year, benefiting spaces like the barrique cellar with specific humidity and temperature requirements.
